Highland Arabica grown at altitude in Tanzania's most fertile coffee region.
Our two coffee farms — Ascona and Edelweiss — are located in Oldeani, Karatu on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. The properties sit adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with indigenous forest and wildlife. Coffee grows at 1,600–1,850 metres elevation — among Tanzania's highest.
The coffee is rain fed due to scarcity of available water. Topographic variety and microclimates across our estates create distinct flavour profiles. All picking is manual with hand-selection of ripe red cherries and rigorous quality screening.
The freshly picked cherries are brought directly to the pulping and washing station where they are immediately pulped and fermented for up to 36 hours. Beans then dry on raised beds for 8–10 days before transfer to conditioning bins for bagging.
As a Rainforest Alliance certified estate, we follow strict environmental and social standards. We also run apprenticeships in trades, support school construction, and operate on-farm nurseries for employee childcare.
